Tax Reform & Fair Taxes

Alabama's tax system is rigged against working families. Let's fix it.

Alabama's Tax System is Rigged

Alabama has one of the most unfair tax systems in America. Poor families pay twice as much of their income in taxes as the wealthiest residents.

Poorest 20% of families
11.9% of income
Richest 1% (millionaires)
5.4% of income

My Solution: Fair Taxes That Don't Punish People for Being Poor

  • Eliminate the federal income tax deduction loophole (saves $833 million)
  • Use that money to completely eliminate the state grocery tax (costs $533 million)
  • Still have $300 million left for schools, hospitals, and infrastructure
  • Working families stop paying taxes on food while everyone pays their fair share
"A single mom working at Dollar General shouldn't pay a higher percentage of her income in taxes than a millionaire. That's not Alabama values—that's backwards."
